read full descriptionWhether it is raking, painting, or working in a garden, services offered through the Neighborhood Involvement Program not only help seniors remain in their homes but feel proud to live there. This program assists seniors living in the North and Southwest Minneapolis neighborhoods. The Wild Harvest team is excited to be part of this community initiative to maintain the yards of seniors living in the communities where we operate.
On Thursday, June 25th the Wild Harvest team set out to Ilme Karvonen's house located in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood in Minneapolis, MN. The team spent the afternoon weeding Ilme's tomato garden, raking her yard and cleaning up the landscape around the house and yard parameters while Ilme supervised from the back door. The team was pleasantly pleased to be offered Homelife garbage bags, a SUPERVALU home goods Our Own Brand, from her pantry to bag the debris. After a little sweat and a visit from the neighborhood ice cream man on a hot summer afternoon the team left a happy Ilme with a groomed yard and even more loyalty to Cub stores, which she indicated she would now shop permanently instead of Rainbow. Although members had participated independently in several philanthropic SVU events, this was the first organized Wild Harvest brand team volunteer event. The team already has plans to work with Feed My Starving Children later this July.
